Burt Road at Dixie Highway
Spicer Group served as both the Project Manager and Project Engineer for the Burt Road at Dixie Highway project for the Saginaw County Road Commission. The project focused on the design of plans and specifications for a 0.2-mile rehabilitation, including widening, shoulder paving, and a construction cost estimate at the intersection. It also involved permitting and coordination with local government agencies. The traffic signal design, which was a primary element of the project, was successfully completed as part of the overall work.
The project, funded by a safety grant through MDOT’s Local Agency Programs, took place in Birch Run Township, Saginaw County. It included HMA cold milling and resurfacing, as well as coordination with the Ground Rubber Tire project, along with driveway work, pavement markings, and permanent signing at the intersection.
The box span traffic signal was designed using steel strain poles, and curb and gutter were added to all four corners of the intersection. While the project is still ongoing, the traffic signal element has been successfully completed.
