I-96 Pavement Repairs from Clinton County Line to I-69

Spicer Group provided professional construction inspection and material testing services to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the repair and repavement project along I-96 in Clinton County. This project included 9.65 miles of concrete pavement repairs, hot mix asphalt, cold miling and resurfacing of shoulders, median cable barrier installation and pavement markings on I-96 from Ionia/Clinton County line to I-69.

These pavement repairs and resurfacing was conducted in both westbound and eastbound lanes of I-96 and included shoulder cold milling and resurfacing.

The existing composite pavement on I-96 through this cooridor consists of 9 inches of reinforced concrete under a layer of HMA separator and a 7.5 inch layer of reinforced concrete pavement overlay. This project repaired sections on the top layer of concrete pavement overlay and retained the HMA separator and the existing underlying concrete pavement. The exit ramp to the I-96 eastbound rest area located just west of Wacousta Road was also cold mildled and resurfaced as part of this project.
