City of Frankenmuth Recreation Planning

Spicer Group has assisted the City of Frankenmuth on their past two Recreation Plans. The most recent was completed in 2014. Both Plans have helped the City capture numerous recreation grants, with the most recent award of $225,000, which helped improve the Frankenmuth Memorial Park Boat Launch. These funds helped pay for development of fishing facilities and renovation of the only boat launch along the Cass River in eight miles. The site serves as a trailhead for the Cass River Water Trail, a series of canoe/kayak launches along the river in Tuscola and Saginaw counties. Improvements included an expanded boat launch, parking lot, signage, access routes and an accessible fishing dock and overlook.

The most recent Recreation Master Plan update included the Plan being developed collaboratively as an Area plan. This Plan included the involvement from the City of Frankenmuth, Frankenmuth Township and the Frankenmuth Board of Education. The Plan included an online survey for community input, which garnered exceptional participation. The Plan was developed to help the Frankenmuth Area accomplish their Recreational goals for the next five years and help secure funding for their goals.
