I-75 Bridges Rehabilitation
Spicer Group provided full-time inspection and material testing services to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the rehabilitation of 4.2 miles of highway along I-75 near Bay City. This project included rubblized concrete, concrete pavement, spillway, curb and gutter, HMA overlay of approximately 100,000 tons, along with the rehabilitation of 11 bridges. The roadway rehabilitation also included earthwork, drainage construction, and guardrail construction. Bridge rehabilitation included concrete deck replacements and substructure improvements as part of MDOT’s routine and preventative maintenance plan to extend the lifespan of the existing structures. Full bridge deck replacements were also part of the project at Wilder, Mackinaw, and Chip Road in Bay County.
Patching and overlays along with steel repair, riprap and pavement markings were also installed on I-75 from north of North Union Road to Beaver Road, Bay County. This project allows the use of Alternate Technical Concepts associated with the maintenance of traffic. Spicer Group’s team is trained and prepared to work when the contractor works. This projects multiple overnight shifts for deck pours for the bridges to replace their surfaces to maintain safety for crew members and motorists.
