Thomas Township Pump Station #1

The station is an ending point for Thomas Township’s entire sewage collection system as all wastewater has to enter this station to be pumped across the Tittabawassee River through a 20-inch force main for treatment at the Saginaw Charter Township’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The old station was 38 years old and in need of updates. The expansions at Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation prompted the need to increase capacity at the station, and it was deemed necessary by Township officials to replace the whole facility and add four new pumps, which Spicer designed. The new seven-foot tall, 100hp pumps have the capacity to pump over 4,500 gallons of sewage per minute.
