Flushing Wastewater Treatment Plant

Spicer Group led the planning, design, permitting, and construction oversight for several major upgrades at the City of Flushing wastewater treatment plant. Their work included:

  • Replacing the grit removal and aeration blower systems.

  • Building two new large primary clarifiers and a new structure to help split the flow of water.

  • Installing a new 1-million-gallon sludge storage tank with mixing equipment.

  • Replacing the cover and heating system on the existing sludge digester.

They also handled all related piping, electrical, and mechanical work, including temporary systems to keep the plant running during construction. The upgrades were part of a USDA Rural Development funding project to improve plant capacity and meet current standards.
