Wickes Park Drive
In 2017, Saginaw City secured an Iron Belle Trail grant to assess and plan a 1.84-mile segment within Wickes Park. The focus centered on repurposing a section of the park's drive into a multi-use path, constituting half of the city's Iron Belle Trail.
For the northern stretch, the degraded vehicular drive underwent transformation into a multi-use path. Spicer Group was responsible for the the design, survey, cost estimates, and overseeing the path's reconstruction from the boat launch to the M-13 exit, with the addition of new lighting. Prior to the start of the construction, pavement coring was completed in multiple locations to test the grounds at the project site.
Throughout the Design Phase, Spicer Group executed a precise topographical survey, serving as a foundation for the design process. There was also collaboration with the County to facilitate the preparation of the MDEQ Joint Permit Application, crucial given the project's location within the floodplain.
This project greatly enhanced Wickes Park, repurposing a deteriorated drive into a functional and well-lit multi-use path, vital for the Iron Belle Trail's expansion within the city limits.
