Newberry TSC I-75 Freeway Signing

Spicer Group was engaged by MDOT to manage the I-75 Freeway Sign Upgrading project, which spanned 56.7 miles from the Mackinac Bridge to the Canadian border in Chippewa and Mackinac Counties. The project involved completing a field inventory of existing signs using mobile LiDAR technology, designing new signs with SignCAD software, and developing the plans, bid, and specification package. Additionally, Spicer Group conducted a MiSigns inventory to document and assess existing signage.

The project also included a mobile LiDAR survey, a geotechnical investigation, and extensive coordination with utilities and local government agencies. As part of the upgrade, two overhead sign structures were replaced, enhancing both the safety and functionality of the freeway within the MDOT Newberry TSC area.
