West Sugnet Road
Sugnet Road spans several miles across the City of Midland, serving as an important method of transportation. The City decided to expand a section of West Sugnet Road 0.56 miles connecting Northwood Drive to West Main Street which allowed for easier traffic flow and an additional access point to the nearby Northwood University. Extending the roadway included project development planning, and design, tree clearing, paving, and maintaining traffic. Spicer Group was hired to provide engineering design, survey, and geotechnical services for the project. The design also included expanding the road to include 12’ wide lanes with 4.5’ bike lanes on each side and curb and gutter features. The project required a total of 3,214 feet of storm sewer be installed ranging from 10 to 36 inches which were designed to also accommodate future needs of Northwood University.
Spicer Group worked with the City of Midland, Crawford Contracting, Inc. and MDOT to construct and finish the project in 2022.
