Arenac County Recreation Planning

Spicer Group was responsible for providing a full update to the County’s Recreation and Master Plans. The Recreation Plan was the required 5-year update from the MDNR, and the Master Plan was a full update. The public input campaign for both plans were combined and included an online public input survey, stakeholder interviews, and public meetings/open houses. The Master Plan focused on land use planning, economic development, and marketing strategies to attract tourism to the County. The County, recognizing its strengths, requested an economic development and marketing strategies section of the Master Plan focused on the abundant natural resources and the Lake Huron shoreline. This plan was a County-wide effort and included coordination with the local municipalities and Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
