Haithco Park Improvements
In 2020 Saginaw County Parks and Recreation received a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant, a match from the county and a grant from the Saginaw County community Foundation, all totaling $500,000 in funding to help develop a splash pad and make improvements to Haithco Park. Since there is only one other splash pad in the Saginaw area the public had put in a request for an additional one to be built at a different location to avoid overcrowding. Haithco Park was the perfect place to add the splash pad because of its popularity and other features which include a small inland lake and fishing dock, playground, pavilion and beautiful landscaping. Spicer Group was hired to assist with grant administration, engineering and design, survey and construction administration for the project. The new park features include the development of the splash pad, benches, picnic tables, pathways, rain garden and new paved ADA parking spaces. The project was completed and officially opened in the end of May 2022 and an official ribbon cutting took place several weeks later in June.
