Henry Marsh Under-Bridge Lighting
The Henry Marsh Bridge is a part of the busy I-675 freeway that runs through the heart of Saginaw. The bridge spans both the Saginaw River and Washington Avenue at the north tip of Saginaw’s downtown district. The City of Saginaw completed improvements to both the underside of the Henry Marsh Bridge and the adjacent Symphony Lane streetscape as they prepared to host the 2024 Memorial Cup international hockey tournament at the neighboring Dow Event Center.
The City of Saginaw hired Spicer Group to complete electrical lighting designs and specifications to add RGBW LED color-changing lighting to illuminate two bays under the bridge, as well as to highlight a beautiful new 127-foot-long mural along Washington Avenue to commemorate one of the nation’s first black mayor, Henry Marsh.
Spicer Group worked with the City of Saginaw and MDOT to provide engineered electrical drawings for bidding and construction. The Under-Bridge Project included design integration/upgrades to the electrical services for the proposed new lighting loads and collaborated with Spicer Group’s concurrent project at the adjacent Symphony Lane, which included new streetscape site pole light fixtures, new decorative overhead string lighting, new asphalt drives, new sidewalk/curbs, and new landscaping. Spicer Group also included specifications to add gravel landscaping to two of the bays under the overpass bridge, while coordinating the new electrical disconnect mounting locations and routing of the new conduit raceways mounted on the bridge over Washington Avenue with MDOT.
