Riverside Friendship Senior Center

The Riverside Friendship Center, also known as the Riverside Activity Center, is a community building designed to host recreational activities and entertainment for mature members of the Bay City community. The facility is centrally located off J.F. Kennedy Drive, in downtown Bay City, Michigan, where people can transport themselves or receive transportation there easily.

The facility offers numerous activities along with meals and snacks, usually for only a small fee. Some of these events include cards, knitting, fitness classes, and bingo. The building also occasionally plans trips outside the center or partakes in community events with its members.

The Bay County Division on Aging, responsible for the center, was looking to have the kitchen within the building renovated and expanded. They hired Spicer Group to provide professional architectural design services and construction administration for the project.

There were several design phases that Spicer Group accomplished in order to adequately meet the expectations and desires of the client. First, the building measurements were taken for project research, then used for the conceptual layout. From there the team was able to begin preliminary designs and move into final designs after client feedback. Once the designs were complete Spicer Group assisted with overseeing construction of the building until completed.

The addition includes a traditional kitchen facility with a wash station, prep area, packaging, and serving station. It also includes an office, locker room, restroom, break room, and walk-in freezer and cooler.
