Flint Housing Commission
Spicer Group has worked with the Flint Housing Commission (FHC) since 2004 on various improvement projects. Duties have included architectural design, site design, construction administration and oversight of multiple smaller projects like sidewalk replacements, new roofing, new siding, new floors, new bathrooms, new gutter systems, porch replacement and repair, and water drainage improvements. Spicer Group also evaluated a number of single-family homes and provided designs for retrofitting them. The goal was to make each home 504 Compliant and redesign the exterior to fit into the neighborhood. Each home was uniquely designed with its own improvements for curb appeal. Spicer Group worked with the FHC to help distribute American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds to a number of different projects. These projects include environmental assessments, heating and cooling replacements in multi-story buildings, exterior renovations to a 12-story tower, and the complete renovation of 10 townhouses, and five single-family homes. Many of these buildings have been vacant or vandalized and require extensive work to make them habitable again. The most recent completed FHC project is the fire restoration of a six unit building and two other units at River Park Apartments.
