KWA Lake Huron Water Initiative Environmental Permitting

Spicer Group was responsible for managing the team to develop MDEQ (EGLE) environmental permitting for all inland lake and stream and wetland impacts for an 80-mile water supply line from Lake Huron to Flint. This included Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac, and St. Clair Counties. Engineers at Spicer utilized GIS software throughout this project as an asset management tool for wetlands, drains, and streams within the proposed pipeline corridor. The team also managed a database of wetland and stream attributes relevant to MDEQ permit requirements and led a team preparing maps of all the environmental impacts. The project also included close coordination with the client, project management team, MDEQ staff, county drain commissioners, and pipeline design engineers to communicate design changes and requirements to minimize environmental and county drain impacts.
