US-23/M-14 High Load Hit Repair
Spicer Group provided full construction engineering services to the Michigan Department Of Transportation Brighton TSC for the US-23/M-14 Interchange High Load Hit Bridge Repair project in Ann Arbor. The project was an emergency repair after an oversized load hit a portion of the bridge. It involved heat straightening beams, steel diaphragm replacement, and partial painting of structural steel that were damaged as a result of an oversized load striking the existing steel beams on the bridge.
Due to the location of the bridge in Ann Arbor, the project was constructed over multiple weekend lane closures which required Spicer Group engineers and technicians to work both during the daytime and nighttime hours. Performing work during these hours made it safer for motorists and the construction crew members. Spicer Group acted as the project engineer, reviewing plans, shop drawings, and performing materials inspection and testing as-needed throughout the project.
