I-675 Bridges Rehabilitation

Spicer Group provided full-time inspection and material testing services to the Michigan Department Of Transportation (MDOT) Bay City TSC for nearly nine miles of rehabilitation to bridges along the I-675 corridor from the south I-75 junction to the north I-75 junction. The project included rehabilitation of 32 bridges. The project involved deck patching, joint replacement, substructure repairs, HMA overlay, epoxy overlay, and high friction surface treatment.

This project was part of MDOT’s routine and preventative maintenance plan for roadways and bridges. Spicer Group’s technicians worked with the contractors to sound every bridge deck to find delaminated concrete on the deck surface before removing and replacing deficient areas with new concrete. Deck joints were also inspected and any that were found damaged, due to factors such as age or weather, were replaced according to specifications. High friction surface treatment was also added on multiple bridges to add additional skid resistance, assisting with minimizing the number of crashes.
