Willow Run Pump Station Improvements
Spicer Group provided full construction engineering services for the design and construction of a new stormwater pump station at westbound US-12 at the Willow Run Plant entrance in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This project included the abandonment of the previous pump station after the completed station was online. The previous pump station’s equipment was at the end of its service live and did not have enough capacity to service the area, which includes the converted highway to the American Center for Mobility. This prompted the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to construct a new pump station to continue the management of stormwater in that area.
This project included a new 27-foot by 48-foot pump station wet well, outfall structure, mixed flow pumps, new electrical service, and all new pump station metals. The pump station services stormwater in the area of the US-12 and Willow Run airport interchange. Spicer Group’s team provided services that included reviewing plans, shop drawings, acting as the project engineer, providing project management, and providing full-time inspection and testing on site.
