Traffic Signal Modernization: M59 at Michigan Avenue in the City of Howell

Spicer Group provided full construction engineering and full-time inspection and construction administration for the modernization of the traffic signal on M-59 at Michigan Avenue and Oak Grove Road in the City of Howell in Livingston County. These modernizations and improvements to the roadway improve the safety for motorists and pedestrians in the City of Howell.

This project included the removal of the diagonal span of the traffic signals and the conversion and installation to a box span traffic signal. The box span signals are a safer alternative for intersections as it gives a better line of sight for drivers. This project also included concrete curb and gutter installation, and the installation of sidewalks and sidewalk ramps. Push buttons for pedestrian traffic and wireless vehicle detection were also installed with this project. Spicer Group acted as the project engineer and project manager on this project for MDOT.
