Transportation
Spicer Group has a strong team of roadway, bridge, and pavement design professionals who have the knowledge and experience to determine the current and future transportation, traffic, and utility needs of our clients in order to provide stronger, safer, and smarter solutions best suited for each project’s success. This group is made up of specialized MDOT-prequalified engineers and technicians who can identify effective and budget-conscious solutions for traffic and safety issues throughout communities for any type of traveling surface. From taking an inventory of roadway signs to inspecting a bridge overpass on a highway, our team is licensed and trained to analyze all factors contributing to the project, like the environment, the end-user, or the best construction material for the job.
We work with State Departments of Transportation, county agencies, and communities to develop roadway, bridge, and traffic projects that are context-sensitive to the surrounding community while meeting current design standards. Roadway projects for highways and streets include horizontal and vertical geometry, compete street elements, ADA design for sidewalk, ramps, and non-motorized paths, drainage, utility, streetscape, right-of-way, and traffic-related items. Traffic engineering items that we design include traffic signing, traffic signal, pavement marking, maintaining traffic, temporary and permanent pavement marking plans and traffic studies. We can complete projects from start to finish including applying for the grant, preliminary and final design, bidding assistance, construction administration, grant administration, and project closeout.
Spicer Group also has a long history of working with state and local agencies on projects utilizing federal, state, and local funding. We have successfully assisted communities with applying for various grant and assistance programs through MDOT including Local Bridge, Safety, Rural Task Force (RTF), Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS), Small Urban, Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), Federal Land Access Program (FLAP), Emergency Relief, Tax Incrimental Finance Authority (TIFA), and the Transportation Economic Development Fund. We are familiar with each grant program’s requirements for design and construction and are prepared to assist our clients with all phases of their projects.
