First Year of Internship

On-the-job Experience You will acquire:
Learn the basics of setup and operation of surveying equipment
Level a tripod over a point
Set up a Total Station over a point
Set up a GNSS Base over a point
Set up a GNSS Rover to receive RTK corrections from a GNSS Base
Using a level road and total station prism properly
Leveling up a GNSS rover and storing points properly
Basic Understanding of GPS
Learn differential leveling, procedures, and data reduction
Perform Level Loop as rod person
Perform Level Loop with Crew Chief Recording Notes
Perform the computations and reduction of level notes
Learn surveying fundamentals and their practical applications
Measuring using decimal feet
Converting Meters to feet and back
The difference between US-survey feet and international feet
Understanding of Coordinate Systems
Understanding of PLSS System
Second Year of Internship
Skills you will acquire:
Learn about compensating errors, error propagation, and data reduction
Level Loop Error of Closure expectations
Double Vector RTK and Averaging limits
Learn about precision versus accuracy and the practical understanding of each

Work independently with GNSS equipment performing topographic mapping

Third and Fourth Year of Internship

Learn about traverse closures and distributing error through least squares or compass rule
Learn how to bring raw GPS and Level data for post processing to final control values
