Zilwaukee Township Boat Launch
Spicer Group provided survey, design, and construction administration for the construction of a new boat launch in Zilwaukee along the Saginaw River. The boat launch is used heavily by recreation boaters and fisherman on a daily basis. During the weekends, the launch usually reaches full capacity as the Saginaw River is located halfway between the City of Saginaw and the City of Bay City. Prior to being constructed, the only places to access the river by boat were in Bay City and Saginaw. The boat launch has four concrete launching lanes with two docks. Boats up to 40 feet can safely launch at the site. Structural steel sheetpiling was installed immediately upstream and downstream of the launching areas to reduce erosion, stabilize the bank and allow for safe access for people fishing from the bank. Paved parking including launching and loading areas were also designed to help facilitate efficient entry and existence of the boat launch area.
