Habina Park Improvement Project

After receiving a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) Land and Water Conservation Fund grant, Habina Park in Merritt Township was fully renovated and reconstructed with new features. Following these improvements, the Township received an additional MDNR Recreation Passport Grant to continue with providing upgrades to the park focusing on the tennis courts. Spicer Group was hired to provide grant administration, design, and construction administration services for this project. At the time, Habina Park had two old and deteriorating tennis courts that needed renovating. Spicer Group designed plans to replace one of the courts and convert the other into a basketball court. The designs also included accessible parking and walkways. Construction was finished in Summer of 2017 and the courts officially opened.
