21 Mile I-75 Design Survey

Spicer Group completed 21 miles of full 3D design survey mapping of Interstate 75 using a combination of conventional surveying, mobile LiDAR, terrestrial LiDAR, and single and multibeam sonar. This section of Interstate 75 is the busiest truck route in Michigan, and is in the beginning phases of a major corridor rehabilitation efforts.

Spicer Group was hired to complete a full right-of-way to right-of-way survey of all features and terrain within the corridor. This $1.5 million project consisted of complete ROW to ROW mapping, underground utility investigations, structure surveys for 27 bridges, 40 hydraulic surveys of river and drain crossings. Data from all mentioned technologies were combined to create a comprehensive 3D model of the entire corridor environment to be used as the basis of all future design.
