Floating Treatment Wetlands
Floating treatment wetlands are buoyant, porous structures that support wetland plants. They are typically installed in stormwater detention ponds or wastewater lagoons to enhance water quality treatment. Beyond their role in improving water quality, these floating wetlands also provide valuable habitats for both aquatic and terrestrial wildlife.
Spicer Group handled the design, installation location determination, wetland vegetation species selection, installation, monitoring, inspection, planting, and repair of 11 floating islands in the Groesbeck Drain Drainage District. These islands attract a variety of wildlife, including herons, turtles, frogs, ducks, and many other species.
