Knapp Cutoff Drain

Spicer Group was hired by Midland County Drain Commissioner to provide services for the Knapp Cutoff Drain located in the drainage district of Midland County, Jerome Township, MDOT, Greendale Township, Lee Township, and Landowners. The drain stretches 9 miles and covers 2,742 acres with a total of 84 drain crossings, 71 private and 13 being road crossings. Spicer Group completed design, engineering, construction administration, and survey work which included a topographical survey for approximately 9 miles of open drain. The crossings were replaced, along with open channel improvements made, erosion control, cleanup and restoration, utility coordination and drain enclosures. The project budget was estimated around $2.8 million.
