Lake Tyrone Sanitary Sewer

The original community drain field sanitary collection system around Lake Tyrone in Hartland and Tyrone Townships had a history of backups and continued permit violations after surpassing its useful lifespan. Spicer Group was hired by the Livingston County Drain Commissioner to evaluate the system and provide recommendations. Using hydraulic modeling software, it was determined that the original low-pressure collection system was undersized for the number of homes connected. Spicer assisted in securing funding through a State Revolving Fund program, then designed the improvements that included upsizing 13,500 feet of collection system main and relocating portions of the main into the road right-of-way. A triplex submersible pump station was constructed to collect the flow and pump it 14,000 feet through 4-inch HDPE dedicated force main to a Genesee County-owned regional pump station. From there, the flows are pumped to Genesee County for treatment. The existing septic tanks and pumps at each home remained operational.
