Studio 23
Bay City arts center Studio 23 is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to bringing more arts to the Great Lakes Bay area. In 1998 they moved into the first floor of the former Jennison Hardware building along Water Street in Bay City and retrofitted the space into a gallery, classroom areas, a clay studio, a small boutique store, and office space.
In 2018, the center hired Spicer Group to provide architectural and engineering services, along with construction administration, to renovate their 9,600 square foot area into their dream facility. Spicer’s team designed renovations that included replacing and reworking the lighting and ceilings throughout the studio, gallery, and office space to include energy efficient LED lighting, along with repairing walls throughout the main level gallery and studio, installing new acoustics, and an upgraded security system. An industrial epoxy coating was installed on the newly stripped and polished floors, a new reception counter was installed, and the restrooms were updated. The upstairs office space within Studio 23 was also completely reconfigured to create new spaces.
